Description:
-High achieving scholar in Rome-Translated the Latin Vulgate directly from the Hebrew and Greek (avoiding using the LXX as a middle-text)
-Though the Vulgate was a good translation for the time, some translation errors have resulted in the bases of doctrines of the RCC
-For example, Jerome translated Luke 1:28 regarding Mary as one “full of grace”
-Translating “repentance” as “penance”
