Arius (1 janv. 250 – 1 janv. 336)

Description:

-Was an elder at Alexandria

-Developed a theology that Jesus was not fully God
-Jesus and the Spirit were created beings of God the Father
-While of high honor and power, Jesus is lesser than God, created, and not of the same substance
-“there was a time when the son was not”

-Arius argued this position at the council of Nicaea

-Arius was condemned a heretic at the First Council of Constantinople in 381AD

-Forms of Arianism continue today in religions such as JW and LDS
