Description:
-The 3rd pastor of Antioch
-Would have known Paul, Barnabas, and Silas
-Little known of personal life, other than martyrdom in Rome
-On his way to Rome, he wrote 6 extant letters to churches in Asia Minor
-Most are focused on both ecclesiastical structure and Christology
-He emphasizes leadership of the bishop, and names Onesimus and Polycarp
-Thus, Ignatius becomes responsible for the 3-tier form of church government (ἐπίσκοπος, πρεσβῠ́τερος, διάκονος)
