Description:

Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation after the United States won the Civil War. As a result, slavery was banned in the nation.
African Americans were finally free from slavery. This was one of the first steps in uniting all American citizens: caucasian, African Americans, etcetera.
