Description:
Starting with the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Indian nationalists started a long campaign to rid themselves of British rule (the British Raj)Mahatmas Gandhi's peaceful protest movement against the British government led to the eventual creation the nation of Indian. It also created various ethnic and religious conflict (while Gandhi preached peaceful protest against the British government, he also called for harsh violence against Muslims).
