Description:
Who: Russia (Vladimir Putin) and Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelenskyy)What: The two countries became hostile after the 2014 Ukrainian revolution. This was followed by Russia's annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, and the war in Donbas. In early 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine, Russia is demanding that Ukraine not join NATO.
Where: Ukraine, Kherson Oblast, Eastern Ukraine, Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Republic of Crimea
When: It February 2014 and is still going on today, although Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 2002
Why: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia were annexed from Ukraine by the Russian Federation in September. Russia does not fully control any of the four regions. President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will use "all the forces and resources" it has to "liberate" the four regions.
