World War I (28 juin 1914 – 11 nov 1918)
Description:
During WWI, Japan joined the allies and took over German colonial holdings in China and the Pacific. Japan used the war to expand its emerging colonial empire, which was necessary for supplying it with the natural resources required for industrialization. The war also resulted in the doubling of the Japanese Army's budget and its emergence as a significant political influencer. Japan even had a seat in the Paris Peace Conference, which cemented its place as a global power. The war, along with Emperor Meiji's death in 1912, symbolized the end of Japan's transformation from a feudal agricultual nation into an industrialized and modern one.
