Second Temple Period (1 janv. 539 av. J.-C. – 1 janv. 70)
Description:
Following the Babylonian Captivity, many Israelites returned to Jerusalem and were self-governed under the rule of other empires such as Persia and Rome. During this period, the Israelites built the Second Temple and refortified Jerusalem. Religiously this period was wrought with differences of Judaic interpretation which often lead to sometimes violent disagreements.
During this period major events such as the Maccabean revolt and the birth of Jesus came to pass.
