Pericles (1 janv. 495 av. J.-C. – 1 janv. 429 av. J.-C.)

Description:

Pericles was an Athenian aristocrat who dominated Athenian politics. He was elected numerous times. He supported an expansionist policy and was central to the strategy of the Delian League during the Peloponnesian Wars. In addition, he lead a massive building project in Athens resulting in the Parthenon and other monumental architecture. He was eventually killed when his popular law restricting citizenship was rejected and he was blamed for the outbreak of a plague broke out in Athens.
