Prussia, under the leadership of Otto von Bismarck, sought to assert its dominance over the confederation, while Austria sought to maintain its traditional power and influence.
The conflict was characterized by several key battles, including the Battle of Königgrätz, and were fought mainly between the armies of Austria and Prussia.
The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Prague, which saw Austria lose its influence in Germany and the emergence of Prussia as the dominant power in Central Europe. The Austro-Prussian War had a significant impact on the politics and society of Europe and marked the beginning of the unification of Germany under Prussian leadership.
