I presume Ahaz will need to be back-dated since Hoshea reigned 9 years, but his cause and date of death are unknown. Presuming reign ended at seige, Ahaz would need to be King starting in 745 BC. Alternatively, Hoshea was setup as a puppet king by Tiglath Pileser III and perhaps only officially acknowledged in Ahaz's 12th year.
Hoshea probably rebelled against Assyria after learning of TP III's death, hoping Shalmaneser V would be weaker--oops.
