Description:

New pottery styles, techniques from China via
Korea in metallurgy of bronze and iron emerged, the start of intensive rice agriculture in paddy fields with elaborate irrigation systems. There was trade with China via Korea,
as evidenced by Chinese bronze mirrors and
Korean artefacts. The Yayoi people, possibly from Korea, supplant the Jōmon people, who continue their hunter-gatherer lifestyles and
reduce in numbers. By around 0 CE, they made up 80% of the population.The ruling elite of the Yayoi period stayed in moated compounds and
had raised-floor granaries to keep out vermin and prevent mold.
