Description:
- Russia collapsing socially and economically
- 586 factories had closed down and 104,000 workers were dismissed
- Street demonstrations became open riots on the streets which were initiated by Bolshevik Kronstadt sailors
- Historian Shelia Fitzpatrick estimates the number of protestors at half a million
- Riots unorganised and undisciplined, despite having the military power to topple the government
- Kerensky was able to disperse the Bolshevik protestors
- He then blamed the riots on the Bolsheviks, even though they had little to do with the riots
- Kerensky promoted to Prime Minister
