Description:

The Renaissance was a period of European cultural, artistic, political, and economic 'rebirth’ occurring shortly before the end of The Middle Ages.

The Renaissance period started a change in knowledge, art, and culture. It changed the way society thought, first with the rediscovery of classical philosophy, literature, and art, as well as new discoveries in travel, invention, and style.

During the Renaissance period (1400 - 1600), many historically significant events occurred. Some of these include: Michelangelo beginning his work on The David (1501), Leonardo da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa (1503), Michelangelo beginning his painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (1508) and Henry VIII becoming king of England (1509).
