Prohibition* (17 janv. 1920 – 5 déc. 1933)

Description:

Prohibition was the name of the time period when the 18th amendment was passed, making the manufacturing, sales, and transportation of alcohol illegal. This had been pushed by the Temperance and women's suffrage movements, as they encouraged women to speak at their rallies of the dangers of alcohol, and how it was hurting their husbands and families. However, prohibition was ended because of how many people were ignoring it. Crime was increasing because people no longer saw the laws as something to be respected, so the US government tried to mend those ties by repealing the 18th amendment.
