Description:
After the exiled Shah of Iran came to the united states for cancer treatment and was taken in. A group of militarized Iranian college students belonging to the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line, who supported the Iranian Revolution, took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and seized hostages. Out of the 66 United States diplomats and citizens inside the US embassy at the time, 52 were held, hostage for 444 days. The hostages were eventually released just minutes after Ronald Regan's inauguration.
