Description:

Although it was remembered in America as the "French and Indian War," the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) was a worldwide battle that covered five continents. After years of conflicts in North America, England officially declared war on France in 1756, triggering what Winston Churchill subsequently dubbed "the first world war." While the French, British, and Spanish fought over New World provinces, Frederick the Great of Prussia faced Austria, France, Russia, and Sweden. Two treaties were signed at the end of the Seven Years' War. The Treaty of Hubertusburg gave Prussia Silesia and strengthened Frederick the Great's authority. The Treaty of Paris, signed by France, Spain, and the United Kingdom, defined colonial lines mostly in favour of the British, influencing the French to intervene in the American Independence War.
