Description:

-Whiskey rebellion: rebels against Whiskey tax set to control the national debt, Washington dispatched militia to put it down; significant b/c it showed the federal gov't. powers to Americans

-ended with his famous farewell address
-encouraged neutrality, and warned Americans against sectional divisions and political party conflict
