The Great Anthracite Coal Strike (of 1902) (1 mai 1902 – 1 oct. 1902)
Description:
This strike happened in Eastern Pennsylvania, when about 147,000 coal miners went on strike.
This strike was led by the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). This was important because it held the largest amount of America's anthracite coal; there was a concern that this would cause an energy strike.
President Roosevelt stepped in, and tried to negotiate a resolution, but he was unsuccessful. J.P Morgan eventually negotiated a 10% wage increase (down from original demand of 20%).
