The Stonewall riots were a series of nights of protest at the Stonewall Inn , one of the few gay bars in NYC that was operated by the mafia. The rioters were the Queer patrons of the bar, and the aggressors were the NYPD who had raided the bar due to laws in affect that targeted Gays and Lesbians.
