NJBS Gains Popularity (1 janv. 1929 – 1 janv. 1930)
Description:
The Naujawan Bharat Sabha in Lahore began to converge in interests with the Punjab Provincial Congress. KIshan Singh, Baghat Sing's father, was a congress worker, who in 1921 had started an ashram in Amritsar with Saifuddin Kitchlew, later to become a leader in the Punjabi Provincial Congress. This period coincided with the effects of the global depression and a bad season in the Punjab, putting pressure on the price of grain and creating an ideal market for the NJBS's pro-peasant rhetoric.
