The revolt's cause stemmed from the rebels' opinion on King Rílen One-Eye and how the Lower Oipientian lords were stripped of their duchy rank after the Lesser War. The most powerful group in the Southern Revolt were the Baropentans who were led by the former dukes of Southern Oipienta, House Erastab. However, the Kings of Baropenta, the Erastabs were thwarted in 1034 by a rival family, the Oerstasdars.
