Liberation of Theresienstadt (2 mai 1945 – 17 août 1945)
Description:
Towards the end of the war, Nazi regimes would evacuate prisoners of soon to be liberated concentration camps and march the prisoners towards areas they controlled more tightly. Conditions were horendous and within the last year an additional ~14,000 prisoners were brought to Theresienstadt.With the help of the Red Army, the International Red Cross was put in charge of Theresienstadt on May 2, 1945 and began efforts to improve living conditions while repatriating large amounts of people.
The entire repatriation process lasted until August 17th, 1945.
