Dion was the president of the MAA (1 août 1932 – 1 mai 1940)

Description:

At a gathering of Alberta's Metis people, Joseph Dion was elected the association president for his work and devotion to the cause.

Together, as a team and community with a united goal, Dion and his fellow Metis leaders, with the support of some federal and political politicians, lobbied Alberta’s government to investigate the poverty, health issues, and education (or lack of it) of the non-status Indigenous people and the Metis.

Dion remained president until the spring of 1940, when the Provisional Executive Council self-proclaimed themselves the new leaders and appointed a chairman, Malcolm Norris.
