Kanem-Bornu Empire (1 janv. 701 – 1 janv. 1893)
Description:
The Kanem empire at its height dominated the southern end of the trans-Saharan trade route and spread across what today constitutes most of Chad and parts of Libya, Niger, Nigeria, and Cameroon. War with the Bulala shifted the Sayfuwa court of Kanem to the west shore of Lake Chad where it became the independent kingdom of Bornu until the expansion of British-backed Sudanese influence and eventual incorporation into the British Empire.
