Robert Whytt (1 janv. 1714 – 1 janv. 1776)
Description:
Scottish Neurologist
-Has the most recognized definition of "reflex" - "involuntary motions"
-Distinguished between voluntary and involuntary movement, implying that some nerves must be for conveying sensory information and others must signal muscle movement
-Defined "habit formation"
-Used decapitated frogs to demonstrate that leg muscles responded to physical stimulation (pinching), but when the nerve between leg and spinal cord was severed, no movement occurred
