The 30-year war (23 mai 1618 – 1 juill. 1648)
Description:
the 30-year war was a big deal within Europe but not so much within England the war didn't really get started until 1620 but as England was the most Protestant powered country there was a different reaction within the king of the time.
JAMES THE 1ST REACTION
- James reaction was basically not to get involved with getting his nickname from this being called pacifist-rex as he does not like to go to war. unless it was a Pacific attack on England his country, he didn't like war because he knew it cost also of resources, time and money and James thought he would rather spend that money all on partys and having a good time. people had bad reactions to this as England was a very puritan powder country and with the war being all about religion people wanted him to get in. people like the puritan/government/the lower classers/ even his own son Charles the only people that agree with James was the armenians
CHARLES THE 1ST REACTION
with Charles being hungry always for war his reaction was quite different to his father's as he would send in English and Scottish troops to help the Dutch this was called the scots brigade now Charles did this for a matter of times and years until they eventually England was really running out of money then he started to raise taxes so he could stay into the 30-year war but then sadly because he was facing his own war with Spain you cannot proceed with the troops and then fell out of the war in about 1635 but as a hole, Charles join in with it because he always thought that
glory > money
