Friedrich Schleiermacher (1 janv. 1768 – 1 janv. 1834)

Description:

Theologian who argued against pure reason. Religion is not a knowledge or system of morality (like Kant) or a form of knowledge (like Rationalism) but a feeling of absolute dependence (awareness of God's existence). Anything that can't trace back to feeling has no place in theology.

Father of Protestant liberal theology. Bridges Lessing's gap by basing religious beliefs in feelings from sin/guilt to grace.
