Description:

Two groups of Indo-European Aryans settled in Iran around 1500 bce. The Medes group settled in the northwest and named their land Media. Meanwhile, the Persian group settled in the south and called their place Persia. Both Medes and Persians were good farmers and horsemen. With the rise of the Persian forces, its leader Cyrus the Great seized the kingdom of the Medes and united it with Persia. His empire was considered the first Persian empire, which is called the Achaemenid empire.
