Description:

Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell, served briefly as Lord Protector of England, Scotland, and Ireland from September 1658 to May 1659. He faced challenges including a deteriorating economy, military unrest, and political opposition. Despite attempting to address these issues by appointing a new council of advisors and making policy changes, he ultimately struggled to maintain support and was forced to resign. His rule is seen as a period of instability in English history.
