Reconstruction Era (1 janv. 1865 – 1 janv. 1877)

Description:

End of US Civil War starts the Reconstruction Era, where former slaves gained freedom to travel, earn wages and other civil rights. There were three amendments to the US Constitution to make sure there were equal opportunities for African-American people.
- 13th Amendment (1865): Prohibits slavery
- 14th Amendment (1868): Gives citizenship and protection to those born in the US
- 15th Amendment (1870): Allows US citizens to vote, regardless of colour
