Catastrophic Disaster Occurs (4 juill. 2007 – 5 juill. 2007)
Description:
At 9:41 PM CST, Water drainage from surface rain into the Entry Orifice collects in the gullet. Due to a relay fault, drainage pumps are not activated- thereby triggering a critical alarm. By 9:48, Technicians arrive at the primary pump station, but find it submerged. Choke response occurs at 9:52.
At 10:06, many of the surface facilities are destroyed due to soil liquefaction. The Orifice begins to dilate, but is unable due to anchors. At 10:12 tremors and convulsions intensify, destroying much of the lower visitor center. 20,000 liters of an aconite compound are injected into the superorganism, as well.
At 10:17, caustic ejecta (likely caused by the aconite compound) reaches the surface- creating a several hundred-meter geyser. Bits of undigested organic matter are blown away- crushing many and destroying nearby vehicles.
At 10:19 the ejecta ends and a massive roar followed by large extremities 30km-120km away from the Pit emerge.
At 10:58, the Pentagon approves nuclear countermeasures should the organism enter an active state.
By 11:02, the Contingency Measure is initiated and successfully spins up.
By 11:13PM, Spams and motor action subside. Response teams begin clean-up and rescue operations.
At 11:58 PM, TX Gov. Rick Perry formally declares a state of emergency for Gumption County.
By 1:02AM on 5 July, the National Guard begins delivering aid supplies and personnel. By 3:12, a FEMA response is initiated.
4:39AM on 5 July, Contingency Measure is shut down and advised against re-initializing. By 3:51PM that same day, radio contact with remaining trapped vehicles cease.
In total, 750 are killed and an additional 1,800 are injured.
