Hiapo (Tapa) 1850-1900 CE (Pacific) (1 janv. 1850 – 1 janv. 1900)

Description:

- Originated from Niue, would later spread to many other islands across the Pacific
- Made out of barkcloth (From Mulberry tree)
- Depicts multiple repeated circles, patterns, and fine lines. Some Hiapo would also depict events occurring at the time of its creation within its patterns, or would also have patterns/designs specific to the island it was created in.
- Was meant to function as a beautifully adorned blanket that can be used for multiple uses within Pacific islander society (Trade, ceremonies, decoration, bedding)
