Description:

- Also called the 1st Civil Disobedience Movement(CDM)
- Rajiv Sukla requested Gandhi Ji, to look into the problems of the farmers in context of Indigo planters in Champaran in Bihar
- Gandhi's 1st movement after coming back from South Africa

- Rajendra Prasad, Mazhar-ul-Haq, Narhari Parekh and JP Kriplani worked with Gandhi

- Tinkathia System - European planters had been forcing the peasants to grow Indigo on 3/20 parts of the total land
- Indigo cultivators protest --> artificial dye replacement of Indigo --> demanded high rents to maximise their profits and also low price offered to peasants
