Inca empire (1 janv. 1438 – 1 janv. 1533)
Description:
The Inca Empire, also known as the Realm of the Four Parts, was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America (America from before Columbus). The empire was located around western South America. At it's largest, it spanned Peru, western Ecuador, western and south central Bolivia, northwest Argentina, a large portion of what is today Chile, and the southwesternmost tip of Colombia.
The Incan economy largely functioned without money or markets, instead using reciprocity between and among individuals. "Taxes" consisted of a labour agreement. The Inca had a polytheistic religion, believing in things like reincarnation, and even performed ritual sacrifices. In the Inca Empire, men and women were considered equal to each other. As a result there was no domestic hierarchy in Inca society and modern-esqe gender roles were not given to either gender until the Spaniards inveaded and enfoced their patriarchal beliefs on the Incas.
The Inca Empire was ended in 1533 after it was taken over by Spanish conquistadors when they invaded South America so that they could colonize the region.
