Description:
The Battle of the Atlantic pitted German U-boats, the Luftwaffe German Air Force, and other German Warships against the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Navy (UK), and the U.S Navy. This lasted the entire war. Later the Italian Royal Navy joined the war on June 10,1940 and aided Germany. Later as well, allied merchant ships and air force joined the allies. In the end the German blockade failed but not without sacrifice. 3,500 merchant ships and 175 warships were lost to the 783 German U-Boats lost.
