Description:
With the death of his father Lycastus, Minos becomes King of Crete. He prayed to Poseidon for a sign of the legitimacy of his rule. Poseidon sent a giant white bull out of the sea. Minos was committed to sacrificing the bull to Poseidon,but then decided to substitute a different bull. In rage, Poseidon cursed Pasiphaë, Minos' wife, with a mad passion for the bull. Minos attempted to sway her from the passion, but to no avail.
