Description:
Mathematician, astronomer, philosopher. Daughter of Theon of Alexandria who was also a mathematician and astronomer. Hypatia wrote a commentary on Apollonius of Perga's "Conics"/geometry and Diophantus of Alexandria's "Arithmetic"/number theory. Followed the philosophy of Neoplatonism.
