Description:
More than 400,000 African Americans migrated from the South to the North for wartime industrial jobs in steel production, mean packing and ship building. But they competed with whit migrants from the South for these same jobs and for housing and this resulted in violence and riots. In Chicago a 13 day riot ended with 38 people dead.
