Ida B. Wells (1 janv. 1890 – 1 janv. 1919)
Description:
She was also born a slave, but she disagreed with Booker T. Washington. She argued that black leaders had a duty to speak out against racial inequality and lynchings and she published an article on a Memphis lynching which angered the local white community to such an extend that they burned down her newspaper's building and she had to flee to Chicago. However, she kept speaking out against racial inequality and the right of every African American to be an equal citizen in the U.S.
