Description:

Under the George H.W. Bush and Clinton presidencies the U.S. was left on its own to figure out how to maintain a world order and peace. The U.S. continued the foreign policy use of limited military power in Operation Just Cause through which the U.S. protected its interests in the Panama Canal by ousting Panama's corrupt and uncooperative leader, Noriega. However, when Sadam Hussein, the president of Iraq, invaded neighboring Kuwait and threatened the international oil supply, the U.S. engaged in the largest scale attack on a nation since the Vietnam War. The U.S. did not act unilaterally, but through the U.N. in Operation Desert Storm and within 100 hours Iraq surrendered and pulled out of Kuwait. This established the U.S. as the sole superpower
