Abolitionist Movement (1 janv. 1830 – 1 janv. 1870)

Description:

The Abolitionist Movement was a social and political effort in the north to end slavery. This movement was led by people such as Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth and John Brown. This movement eventually led to the 13th Amendment which officially banned slavery from the United States of America. Although not many slave owners actually quit using slaves, it was still a big next step into freeing all of the slaves. This event led to the outbreak of the Civil War because slave owners were now officially illegal. Slave owners didn't want to stop their usage of slaves so they kept breaking the law (this made relations between the north and south even worse).
