Americans With Disabilities (1 janv. 1980 – 1 janv. 1990)

Description:

The Civil Rights movement also inspired Americans with disabilities to demand equal rights and equal protection under the law. The disability rights movement adopted many of the civil rights' movements's tactics. They protested and organized sit ins in federal government buildings in order to draw attention to the injustices and prejudice they faced. The movement's organization and advocacy resulted in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. President George H.W. Bush signed this Act into law, and it provided legal protection and accessibility mandates and work accommodations for Americans with mental and physical handicaps.
