Vietnamese Boat People (1 janv. 1975 – 1 janv. 1978)

Description:

Once the Vietnam War ended and Vietnam was unified under a communist regime, thousands of Vietnamese fled. Many were agrarian and fishermen who had access to boats and took to the sea in an attempt to get to neighboring countries. they faced the danger of execution if captured, or drowning from overcrowded boats. President Ford through executive orders authorized the airlift of thousands of Vietnamese and relocated them to the U.S. During this time period, over 120,000 Vietnamese were granted entry to the U.S. as asylum seekers.
