Description:
After the economic growth during the rule of the Qing dynasty did definitive social stratification occur. The privileged classes were held by the emperor, their family, and the scholar-bureaucrats. They received standard royalty treatment. The working classes were separated into 3 broad categories of commoners: peasants, workers, and merchants. They were crucial to the economic growth of the dynasty.
