Immigration Continues to Surge (1 janv. 1875 – 1 janv. 1900)

Description:

The federal government's continued building of railroads and the discovery of minerals such as gold dramatically increase the economy which in turn continued to attract more immigrants. Mining towns developed in which immigrants lived in separate neighborhoods. By 1900, 2 million immigrants came from Europe. One third of the people who migrated west came from Europe such as Swedes to Minnesota and Germans to Nebraska. Chinese immigrants also continued to migrate to California.
