Prague Spring (5 janv. 1968 – 21 août 1968)
Description:
Description: Prague Spring was a brief relaxation of communism and an attempt for looser restrictions in Czechoslovakia, followed by opposition from Soviets who initiated an invasion of Warsaw pact troops. The troops were met with resistance, however, the leader of Czechoslovakia and his liberal reforms were repealed as the Soviets re-established communism.
Significance: This event demonstrates the Soviet Union’s attempts to enforce communism in Europe, as well as the nature of tensions between the two powers; the United State’s unwillingness to intervene was due to easing relations between the two powers.
