Description:
Construction of atomic weapons became possible when Enrico Fermi discovered the radioactivity of Uranium in the 1930s. When the U.S heard that the Germans were attempting to create the bomb, they came up with their own program. The U.S government put $2 Billion into the project. The first successful test was on July 16th, 1945 in a desert near Alamogordo New Mexico. Two bombs were later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to force Japan into surrender.
