Horace Man:
-He spearheaded the Common School Movement, ensuring that every child could receive a basic education funded by local taxes.
-Mann also was one of the first to establish the idea of graded work and also mandated colleges based on the training of future teachers.
Thomas Gallaudet
-Thomas Gallaudet used the philanthropic sector to develop an educational system that aided in educating the deaf. By creating the first school for the deaf in the United States, he showed that those who could not hear were able to learn.
