George Liele (1750-1828) (1 janv. 1750 – 1 janv. 1828)
Description:
Through the church of his owner, Henry Sharp, Liele came to saving faith in Christ. Soon after his conversion, Sharp released him in order that Liele might pursue his call to ministry. After a series of events, he and his family moved to Jamaica in 1782 with the intent of bringing the gospel to the lost, particularly to the African slaves. After over forty years of ministry, thousands came to Christ, new missionaries were sent to other lands, churches were planted, and slavery was abolished in Jamaica. The life and legacy of Liele exhibits his remarkably positive impact on Baptist history.
